Hiya, welcome to stories write us!
I am here because I believe exactly that. I have been shaped by the stories that I’ve read and watched, and I hope that one day I will be able to share stories of my own with the world.
So, a little bit about me. My name is Isabelle, I was born in 2001 and raised in Guernsey, in the Channel Islands. I was an avid reader in childhood, and I gobbled up sometimes several books a week well into my teens. In my sixth form years, I struggled to maintain that level of voracity, but the silver lining was that I found a new love in my Film Studies class. I’d always enjoyed going to the cinema, and watching “the making of” documentaries (especially Peter Jackson's “The Lord of the Rings” with my dad on rainy Sundays), but learning about cinematography and film theory sparked a passion I’d never explored before. I went on to study Film Production at the University of Portsmouth, and graduated in 2024.
Before the final year of my degree, I managed to land my dream internship in the Production Management team at Disney+ in London. While I loved every second, I quickly realised that my aspiration to become a director didn’t really suit me at all, whereas I had discovered an affinity for screenwriting and script development. This made a lot more sense given my love of the written word, and it has since reinvigorated my desire to read as much as possible. It also ultimately led me to write my graduate film “Until Today”, which has been shortlisted for several film festivals.
With this brand, I hope to carve out a future in editorial for publishing or scripted television, but in the meantime I just want to write about what I like and develop some skills along the way! While I hope you enjoy reading my blog, I intend to make it my own by focusing on the works and themes that pique my interest, rather than what is necessarily in the mainstream. If you’re a newbie in the writing scene and you’d like some feedback on your work, feel free to take a look at my Editing Services page and get in touch. There is a special place in my heart for the fantasy and historical fiction/period drama genres, however I can appreciate all different kinds of narratives.
Thank you for joining me on this adventure, and I hope we can find some common ground in our search for something more in the stories we love and write.
Best wishes,
Isabelle
